My paper has been accepted, but I have received no information on funding yet. Am I being funded?
All the participants who have requested financial support are strongly advised to explore alternate or additional funding sources as there is limited funding available for participant support. At any rate, IHDP will only be able to provide partial funding in the form of stipends. Only in exceptional cases, full support may be available. We have been able to provide partial stipends to a large number of participants already. Major criteria for selection are the results of the review process. However, regional and gender balances are taken into account as well. As more funding for participant support becomes available, more applicants will be provided with stipends. However, if you did not receive a notification of financial support yet, it is unfortunately unlikely that we will be able to financially support your participation in the IHDP Open Meeting 2009.
Has my paper been accepted?
All papers accepted for the Open Meeting previously planned for October 2008 in New Delhi, India, are automatically accepted for the Open Meeting 2009 in Bonn.
After papers are graded and processed, applicants will be informed of their acceptance or rejection by e-mail. If you applied during the first call, and did not receive such an e-mail, please contact Shalini Kanwar a kanwar@ihdp.unu.edu. If you applied during the second call for papers, acceptance letters will be sent out early in January. You can check the review status of your paper by logging-in on the website where you submitted your abstract.

Does IHDP provide help with organizing accommodation and transportation?
All participants need to arrange travel and accommodation for themselves. However, IHDP is cooperating with a hotel reservation service in order to assist participants in finding an appropriate accommodation for the time of the Open Meeting 2009. This organization can support you in finding a suitable hotel for your stay in Bonn. More information on this is available in the logistics section. Detailed information on transportation options in and around Bonn will be provided in due course.

Are there hotel rooms blocked for Open Meeting participants?
We have blocked a large number of different accommodation options for your stay in Bonn during the Open Meeting 2009. The options vary from 4 star hotel rooms to low budget lodging, and can be booked online. More information is available under the logistics section.
However, there is a deadline to these blockings, and some of them end already in the first week of March. We therefore strongly recommend to use the online forms for the different options, in order to secure the accommodation of your choice.
Please note that due to a holiday and other events taking place in Bonn, there is a high demand on rooms/beds in this region during the days of the Open Meeting.

How do I become a sponsor, and what sponsorship opportunities are available?
Sponsorship of this exciting international conference provides a unique opportunity to elevate the status and increase the visibility of institutions and corporations dealing with global change aspects. Sponsorship and partnerships are of high importance to the success of the Open Meeting 2009. Sponsors are most welcome to join IHDP in the effort of realizing the ambitious goals of the Open Meeting 2009. Many advantageous strategies have been developed to create win-win situations for sponsors of the conference.
The professional and highly visible exhibition spaces at the conference venue offer a particularly interesting sponsorship opportunity and we would be pleased to discuss a package tailored to meet your specific requirements. For more information on sponsorship please see the sponsor section or contact Mr Jens Marson at marson@ihdp.unu.edu.

Can my organisation hold a session or event at the conference?
The IHDP Open Meeting 2009 welcomes proposals for sessions or events as part of the conference, as well as activities or collaborations taking place outside the general conference agenda. Standards of quality are high, and space and time are limited at the Open Meeting 2009. Therefore, each proposal will be assessed on its relevance and quality on a case by case basis . Please be aware that the planning process for the Open Meeting 2009 is well advanced and therefore IHDP can only accept a limited number of additional sessions and events. If you are interested in organizing a session or event please contact Mr. Falk Schmidt at schmidt@ihdp.unu.edu.

Will IHDP issue a Letter of Invitation to obtain a visa to come to Bonn?
IHDP would be glad to issue a Letter of Invitation to all registered participants of the Open Meeting 2009 who need such a letter for visa purposes. If you need a Letter of Invitation, please make sure that the data you provided for your conference registration is correct and complete, and ensure that your request for a Letter of Invitation is addressed at openmeeting2009@ihdp.unu.edu and includes all necessary information. Incomplete or unclear requests will not be processed. Letters of Invitation will only be sent to the requesting participant after IHDP receives a confirmation of registration fee payment. Please note that there might be a certain time gap between your act of payment via bank transfer or credit card payment and the moment that IHDP receives the confirmation of the money actually having arrived. Therefore all participants that require a Letter of Invitation are strongly requested not to postpone the registration and payment of a required fee. IHDP unfortunately can not offer further assistance in the visa application procedure and IHDP reserves the right to deny issuing a Letter of Invitation without providing reason.
